How to use embed codes to add media to Google Earth and Google Maps
Dean Shareski's uStream TV show streaming in a Google Earth Placemark window. Here's Dean' enjoying some ice cream.
What you can embed:
Google Earth: YouTube, Slideshare, Evoca, uStream, United Streaming video, and other embed codes.
Google Maps: YouTube embed codes (You can embed Slideshare, Evoca, uStream, but when you save the map, they do not appear)
An example of what an embed code looks like: this is from Did You Know.
<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/pMcfrLYDm2U&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/pMcfrLYDm2U&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
To embed in Google Earth, follow this procedure
Open Google Earth
Click on the Placemark tool and position it where you want it.
Paste the embed code from YouTube and click OK. This is what you see:
It's that easy! The video now plays in the Google Earth placemark window. Any online service that produces an embed code (such as an avatar site) can work in this way.
